Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you're seeking a buggy to jog with or just a compact stroller for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight areas.
For a smooth ride, go for a pram that has air-filled tyres and look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are susceptible to punctures so be prepared with an repair kit.
Frame made of sturdy material
New figures show that three-wheeled buggies, that emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, which are more versatile and easier to drive and look elegant.
The rule is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. The larger wheels on both the front and back makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on rough terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn as well as a 3 year old and found that it was able to handle cobbles, grass, rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was sturdy to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and require to be pumped up occasionally they have suspension built-in. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is another thing to consider. The seat should be large enough for your child to feel at ease and to lie down. Certain three-wheel buggies come with a lie-flat option that allows your child to lie flat and face you, while other buggies only permit a parent-facing option.
3 wheel all terrain pushchair is a great alternative for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This buggy can be used as a one-person unit from the beginning and can be modified to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from age four and includes a bumper bar, raincover, improved 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. The storage options are good too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood, and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels means that your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain - perfect for buggies designed for off-road use. They also allow you to move the pushchair around tight spaces. A lot of three-wheeled buggies come with rotating front wheels that assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This can also help when you crash into the roots of a tree or stray kerb as the front wheel can be lifted up to keep you from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheeled pushchairs have air-filled tyres that allow them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they're susceptible to punctures, so you'll need to have a repair kit, spare tube, and pump on hand.
Our top three-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both buggies feature larger wheels that, according to MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and are able to effortlessly go up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which in her words "smoothes out bumps extremely effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide and they may be a challenge to fit in tight spaces. This is an issue if you're using it as a jogger or to maneuver through narrow doorways when out and out and about. The majority of models come with small folding options that let you remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.
Easy to Manoeuvre
A three-wheeled buggy is more maneuverable for children. The way they are built means that the front wheels turn on a dime and are incredibly maneuverable and are ideal for difficult terrain like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler. she said: "The Terrain is a joy to maneuver on rough terrain. The swivel wheel in the front was especially useful." I was also amazed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. It was very stable for descending or on a rough terrain."
The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you should keep in mind when your home is one of the cities. If this is the case then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better choice for you.

Kath, our MFM reviewer, also loved the roominess of this buggy. There's a big easy-to-access basket that's quite spacious for a buggy this small, plus there's an easy-to-use pouch that zips up at the back of the seat and two smaller mesh pockets inside the hood for your keys and phone.
